Heme proteins: quantum yield determined by the pulse method.
نویسندگان
چکیده
We report results of the application of the "pulse method" to the study of photodissociation of various ligands from several heme proteins. By use of this technique, which allows the determination of the quantum yield of photodissociation accurately and rapidly, several ligands (CO, O(2), isocyanides) have been investigated for sperm-whale myoglobin and trout hemoglobin I. In agreement with previous results, the new data lead to the conclusion that no simple relationship exists between the quantum yield and the affinity constant in the ground state. For trout hemoglobin I, the experiments were extended to measure the quantum yield of the CO photodissociation as a function of the initial degree of saturation, from fully saturated down to the initial values of about 1.5%. The results yield additional information to that obtained by the "steady-state" method, and in particular exclude the idea that the photochemical yield is in any way dependent on the fractional saturation of the molecule with carbon monoxide.

pH Effect on the Size of Graphene Quantum dot Synthesized by Using Pulse Laser Irradiation
In this study graphene oxide (GO) was synthesized by using Hummer’s method. Low dimension graphene quantum dot nanoparticles (GQDs) were synthesized using pulse laser irradiation. Fourier Transform-Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy and photoluminescence (PL) analysis were applied to study the GQDs characteristic. Scanning electron microscopy illustrated the...
متن کاملDesign of an infrared laser pulse to control the multiphoton dissociation of the Fe-CO bond in CO-heme compounds.
Optimal control theory is used to design a laser pulse for the multiphoton dissociation of the Fe-CO bond in the CO-heme compounds. The study uses a hexacoordinated iron-porphyrin-imidazole-CO complex in its ground electronic state as a model for CO liganded to the heme group. The potential energy and dipole moment surfaces for the interaction of the CO ligand with the heme group are calculated...
متن کاملPhotodissociation of ligands from heme and heme proteins. Effect of temperature and organic phosphate.
The effect of temperature on ligand photodissociation from protoheme and the heme proteins hemoglobin (Hb) and myoglobin (Mb) has been examined. The quantum yield of photodissociation (phi) is greater at 40 degrees than at 0 degrees; in general, larger increases are seen in the less photosensitive complexes, while phi does not change in the most photosensitive complexes. The ratio of phi at 40 ...
